Today's Feature Child

Littie is 16 now and it's definitely a "sweet 16"... and she's going to kill me for doing this (featuring her), but she'll get over it as I eventually feature each of her siblings as well. My second thought (after my first thought of singling her out) was of all the pictures I don't have but need to take to do a good job of showing all her sides/hobbies/talents. But it's 11:46 pm and if I don't do this NOW, I'll never get a chance.

Last spring Littie began taking her first "serious" piano lessons. In the fall a couple of keys on her little keyboard broke, so she used the money she had saved to buy herself a nice, full-size keyboard with weighted keys (feels like a piano). She is progressing beautifully and is a joy to her teacher.

Another of her favorite things to do is read. Because of her love for books she began last summer volunteering at the library a couple of hours a week. She's now earning high school credit (called service learning) through this work.

She's also into photography, drawing, music, her "My Space", church youth group, and dressing up her sister in "custom made fashions", some of which will likely be seen when I feature Rebekah. She's also a HUGE help to me in that she kinda likes doing laundry.

She has been doing yoga for her PE credit this year.

Her best friend is Alyssa...they were trying to look alike.

She babysits on Fridays for this little girl, Ellie, who is just a few months younger than Mary.

Littie doesn't like to conform to what is expected, so out with snowmen...let's do snow rabbits instead.

This week Littie is taking the High School Qualifying Exit Exam in Fairbanks. Here "we" are studying together in preparation (I've got the answers to the sample test:)

Like the rest of us, Littie is anxious for spring, planting flowers, no school, and lots of sunshine. She has her learner's permit and is working toward getting a driver's license in the fall so she'll be able to drive to school (she'll be returning to Star of the North).

Hey Jackie,
Littie has grown up to be quiet a young lady. Hard to belive. It dosen's seam that long ago that she came to stay the week with us. Now, to think back she must have been about Aspen's age. My how time flies. She sounds like a really sweet girl or I should say young lady, especially to spend so much time with her younger siblings. Most teenagers wouldn't make the time. Give them all a hug from me.

Make sure Littie knows how proud I am of her. I've seen her grow up through photos mostly, but hearing anything about her is always a great treat. Her heart is so sweet. I love her alot. Rm

Hey! Today's Feature Child is a great idea! :)

Yes, you definitely need to add more photos if the nuances of the kaleidescope that is Littie are to be fully appreciated! (that's a compliment, by the way).

I am always impressed by EVERYTHING Littie does, can do, or could do if she had the inclination. Talented, intelligent, beautiful girl (you won't get any of that young lady stuff from me!) At least not yet!

How long will it take to get the HSQE results back? I know she'll pass with flying colors.

One thing...I though MARY was the snow bunny around your house!

Well, she DID get mad at me. Said I could have picked more flattering pictures. Then Tim got in on it - picked out and enlarged the one I posted of him and Mary, pointed out all the flaws and basically told her that at least her pictures weren't as bad as his...and then he said, "What's worse is that it's not just a bad picture, that balding old man really is ME." :)

About the test...I'm pretty sure we won't know until the fall.

By the way, I noticed you put 4 little photos in one square spot on your blog (the kids swinging). How did you do that?
