Keeping In Touch

Well, here it is. A few of us talked about making a blog for our family for posting photos and news and just generally keeping in touch...and wow, here it is. Not nearly so hard as I thought. I'm still learning about editing things once I put them on here, but I guess (or hope) we'll all be doing a little learning and experimenting with this. You can post (add photos and news - pretty much like writing an email); if you already have a blog or website, you can link it to this one; or you can leave a comment about a posting and possibly get replies to your comments (something like having a conversation). Happy blogging!

Yahooooo! I think this is going to be fun, fun, fun!!! I noticed that you uploaded your photos directly onto the blog instead of going through an external site. Did that take very long? I can't seem to do it from my computer...a connection thing, I guess.

Anyway, this is GREAT! Thanks for making it happen, Jackie.

Love you!

Hey, Jackie,

How did you know all this stuff? Have you been hanging out with Kimberlee or what? :) My sisters, the computer I.T. people. This is great. Now, you mentioned this is like senting a email including pictures. So what do you do to add pictures? Remember I'm in training, so go slow.

Yes, Rm, Kimberlee led me through the process over the phone. What does I.T. stand for?

Okay, after you get to the blog, click "sign in"(top right corner), then click on "new post" (near the top right corner). A window should pop open that you can type into (this is what MY email program looks like - not sure about yours). Hover your mouse over each of the icons and find the one for insert image. I think you'll be able to follow the steps given the rest of the way. If not, let me know (or Kimberlee). Hope to see your post soon:)

Kimberlee, the photos didn't take too long - a minute or less I think. I have to say, this is a little addictive. Hopefully the new will wear off without losing the motivation to keep current postings.

Okay, you both may have noticed a new contributor called "others"...well, what I did was I created an account author with my email address that I don't really use so that April (or other trustworthy relatives)can contribute without having to create an account i.e. give out their email address, "agree to terms of service", or anything else that they may be leery (sp?) of. Make sense? Confusing? Well, they will for sure need to write their names in the post or comments if it's not obvious since it will be shown as coming from "others".

Thank you for helping me get this started, Kimberlee.

Love to you both, Jackie

Hey, I love it! One thing, though...you are the only one that can add page elements. I guess that makes you the Blog Boss. :) I can add posts and comments, but don't have access to "layout" which is where you have to go to add things on the sidebar like a list of links, etc. So you will have to be the one that does that kind of thing. Sorry.

Since my connection at home has gotten SO slow, I've been thinking about trying to upload photos directly into the blog rather than going through Flickr. I might practice on here first. :) Gotta find something to take a picture of, I guess. :)

I kind of hope you don't get tired of doing this...I love having easy access to photos. It's even faster than pulling them up from the computer to view!

Love you!

Hey Kimberlee, I hereby bestow upon you ADMIN PRIVILEGES :)

"grant admin privileges" shows beside the names in the list of authors under "permissions".

Did you notice I already started the link list? I asked April if I could add there new website - haven't heard from her - their probably a little busy right now with those UNT people there. The clock and weather sound great - do whatever you can get around to doing. Myself, I'm going to bed early tonight - I was on here till midnight last night!

Wussup Rm? Figured out loading pictures yet? Do you ever have pictures put onto disks instead of of or in addition to prints? That would allow you to skip the scanning step. Sure wish that digital camera would have worked out. How's soccer going? Are y'all out for spring break/Easter this week? We had it last week - strange that they don't try to combine it with Easter.

Night night

Okay, I got 2 out of 3 there/their/they're(s)wrong in that last comment :( oops

LOL! Maybe I'll print your message and use it as an editing lesson! :) (just kidding!!!)

I'll see what I can do about the clocks/weather thing this weekend.

Did we mean to restrict comments to team members? Maybe we could talk more about that later.

Love you!

I didn't want to restrict it to team members, but I wasn't sure which of the other choices was best.

More later.

Hey, Jackie,

This is really cool!!! I have been reading Kim's blog and have really injoyed learning more about her part of the world. With us all living so far apart, this is a great way to stay in touch and see each others children grow up. Or in my case Grandchildren.

I created an account, I'm going to try to start a Blog. I always have lots of pics of the girls to share. I doubt my writing will be as creative as kim's though. When you get a chance e-mail me your phone #. I'm sure I will need some help getting started.

Love you, Lynn

Hey, Lynn!

Even though you wrote your message to Jackie...I'm going to say hello too. :)

That would be great if you started a blog. I think you could probably scrape up a photo or two to post! :)

I didn't know you were checking my Arctic blog. I'm so glad.

Please do stay in touch...

Hey, Kimberlee

Yes, have been checking your blog, I also gave the site to Toni. She has really enjoyed it. She will call and ask if I saw a certain pic you posted. I think Aspen will like it when she gets a little older. Jackie sent me your #. I will try to call this weekend and get some tips for getting started.

Hey, that's exciting! Thanks for passing my blog on to Toni. I had no idea that she knew about it! :)

I look forward to chatting with you soon!
